Bear Necessity

$5.50

The Bear Necessity was knit for my little cub, after our giant puppy ate his way through most of our most treasured knitwear.

This fisherman’s rib beanie gently introduces you to knitting the fisherman’s rib using one solid colour and then two colours. It is knit in the round using the super sumptuous Nua yarn from Carol Feller. The crown is decreased using simple slanting decrease stitches borrowed from Brioche knitting techniques, to create a stylish finish to the crown. It is completely reversible and can be worn with or without a pom – I leave it to you.

There are two sizes. Small, and medium – large, for your little cubs and big bears! These are based on adult head sizes. The fisherman’s rib is quite stretchy, and as such, the medium to large actually fits the giant papa bear (husband – LOL!) very snuggly. Both hat sizes can actually be made from just 2 skeins: one size using the pattern and colours as stated, and the other, mixing up the remaining yarns to create your own colour combination.
Have fun!
