Foss for Men

Foss is the Icelandic word for Waterfall. Ever since I created my Foss cowlafter visiting Iceland, I’ve wanted to create a sweater of similar design. The random ribs were inspired by a tracing I made over a photo of the Seljalandfoss waterfall. It is one of the most beautiful, serene waterfalls in Iceland. Please read my little blog about the inspiration behind this and the Foss for Women sweater.

This bottom up, in the round sweater that begins with a 3×1 ribbed hem, followed with the random rib pattern, makes for a very flattering, easy to wear pullover. It is divided into two halves for the arm holes, where the back and fronts are worked separately in the flat. There are a few short rows worked for shoulder shaping and then finished in a 3×1 crew neck. The arms echo a smaller random ribbing detail.

This sweater is knit using the brilliantly structured yarn Einrúm E+2 (80% Icelandic Wool + 20% Thai Silk).
